Raise the Mermaid
If you grew up in St. Petersburg, you probably remember the iconic mermaid that greeted shoppers and visitors for years as it hung on the Webb's City north wall - promoting Doc Webb's Live Mermaid Show. Following a City-sponsored party to lower the Loreli prior to the building's demolition, the beautiful porcelain sign was donated to the Museum of History in 1980.
Now 37 years later, the Museum wants to bring that incredible mermaid back to life by raising and hanging it on the Museum's wall that faces Bayshore Drive, but we need your help. The goal is to raise $5,000 - the cost to have her treated so she won't rust and raised by a sign company.
