Happy Hour with the Historian – Cypress Gardens: America’s Tropical Wonderland!
The Museum of History and Southern Roots Realty invite you to join us on Thursday, April 11 for Happy Hour with the Historian featuring the story of Cypress Gardens, America’s Tropical Wonderland!
Award-winning author and historian, Dr. Lu Vickers, takes us on a journey to the world-famous attraction that cemented Florida’s reputation as the land of sun and fun in the 1930s.
Created out of swampland in central Florida by Dick Pope, the “man who invented Florida”, Cypress Gardens combined water ski shows, tropical gardens, and iconic Southern Belles to create an enduring symbol of Florida.
Cypress Gardens, America’s Tropical Wonderland reveals its heyday as a famous water-sports destination and playground for such stars as Joan Crawford, Johnny Carson, and Carol Burnett, as well as royalty from the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, to King Hussein of Jordan.
Presented by Southern Roots Realty, Happy Hour with the Historian is frequently sold out, so please purchase tickets in advance. Admission without advanced purchase cannot be guaranteed.
