The Museum of History and Southern Roots Realty welcomes Francis Gary Powers\, Jr. as he unveils the truth about America’s most famous spy pilot\, Francis Gary Powers\, Sr.\, and the U-2 incident in 1960 where his father was shot down over Russia and nearly ignited the Cold War! \nThe talk will center on his recent book\, Spy Pilot: Francis Gary Powers\, the U-2 Incident\, and a Controversial Cold War Legacy\, and set the record straight in regard to the inaccurate reports that surround the U-2 Incident and tarnished his father’s reputation. \nPowes’ presentation gives an overview of his search for the truth after his father’s death in 1977\, and how his research led to the USAF and CIA posthumously awarding Powers Sr. the POW Medal\, Director’s Medal\, and Silver Star in 2000 and 2012 respectively. \nGary Powers\, Jr. is the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of The Cold War Museum outside of Washington\, D.C.\, which he founded to honor Cold War veterans and preserve Cold War history. \nPresented by Southern Roots Realty\, Happy Hour with the Historian is frequently sold out\, so please purchase tickets in advance.
