The West Coast Inn: A Waterfront Memory

On May 29, 2018, the Tampa Bay Rays delivered one of those rare moments that instantly becomes part of franchise memory. In the third inning against the Oakland Athletics, C.J. Cron (pictured), Joey Wendle, and Wilson Ramos hit back-to-back-to-back solo home runs, marking only the third time in team history the Rays had accomplished the feat.
That inning came against Oakland starter Paul Blackburn and shifted the energy of the game in an otherwise tight matchup at the Oakland Coliseum. Tampa Bay would go on to win 4-3, with the decisive run coming later in the ninth inning on an RBI single by Daniel Robertson.
On the mound, Blake Snell helped steady the night for Tampa Bay, striking out seven over 5.2 innings and keeping the Athletics within reach long enough for the offense to break through.
It was one of those games where a single inning told the story, but the full nine still had to be played.
Moments like this remain a reminder of how quickly momentum can shift in baseball and how one inning can define a night together.
