The St. Petersburg Museum of History is seeking Fall 2022 interns across all different disciplines in the Museum, including Archives & Collections, Business/Development, Curatorial/Exhibits, Events/Hospitality/Sales and Marketing.
Applications have been EXTENDED to Sunday, September 11 at 11:59 PM.
Applicants should email their resume as an attachment (PDF or Word doc) to careers@spmoh.org and include their desired track name (or names) in the subject line (Ex. Marketing Intern – John Doe Application if applying to one or Archives & Collections Intern / Curatorial/Exhibits Intern Jane Doe Applications if applying to multiple tracks. Please note you can only complete 1 track).
All interns will receive hands-on experience, learning opportunities, portfolio materials, opportunities to meet with Board members (many of whom are prominent members of the community), free admission for 2 to a walking tour during the internship program time period (with reservations) and a free student membership at the successful conclusion of the internship program.
Archives & Collections: Reports to Archives & Collections Manager – APPLICATIONS FOR ARCHIVES & COLLECTIONS CLOSED
The Archives & Collections intern will learn and practice core concepts of Museum collections, organizational structure, research, preservation standards, donation processing, inventory and other relevant skills and tasks.
Business/Development: Reports to Executive Director
The Business Management/Development intern will be exposed to broader aspects of managing a non-profit business: the how, why, what, where, and when. Interns will experience what goes into running and operating a cultural facility – from finance and fundraising, to general operations and working with non-profit boards.
Curatorial/Exhibits: Reports to Curator/Historian
The Curatorial intern will perform research and provide support for curatorial work and upcoming exhibitions, as well as new collections/archive acquisitions, all of which focus predominantly on St. Petersburg, the Tampa Bay area, and Florida history.
Events/Hospitality/Sales: Reports to Sales and Venue Manager
Event Management internship tasks include planning, promotion, logistics, client relations, and on-the-day support. Having experience and a perspective is an invaluable asset in the field of events, and will set you apart from other graduates.
Marketing: Reports to Marketing Director
The Museum Marketing intern will assist in all steps of the marketing process, including but not limited to photography, design, content creation, social media, research, marketing materials distribution, strategy, public relations, advertising and more.
